ABOUT MARCELA LEUS
Personal Theory and Vision for Educational Change
Throughout my Masters studies at Vancouver Island University (BC, Canada), I have learned about innovative teaching strategies educators are successfully using to increase students’ interest and awareness about their learning. As a consequence, I started wondering how these strategies could be compiled into a deeper Professional Learning Program (PLP) targeting new and experienced educators. This program became the focus of my workshops.

Marcela Graduated from a Master of Education in Educational Leadership, with distinction by presenting a thesis titled A Professional Development Design for Introducing Inquiry Based Learning into Mainstream Education. This is the foundation of Marcela's goal in teaching educators on how to adapt teaching skills in the new learning climate.

Embrace the Future Through Inquiry
With technology allowing individuals to have instant information at their fingertips, there is a need for an educational evolution. The evolution should shift the teacher’s role away from an education dictator, as the great educator and philosopher Paulo Freire (and fellow Brazilian) described in the Pedagogy of the Oppressed. The teacher role who holds and imparts knowledge must be switched to the role of a mentor, who helps students filter the information they are accessing.
Marcela's Learning to Inquire workshop is recommended full time, throughout a week of self discovery and educational engagement.
